At the end of September, I had to travel to San Francisco for a work event. My older brother, Edward, moved out to San Francisco in 2014 and I still hadn’t made it out there to visit him so this was the perfect opportunity for me to extend my travels and spend the weekend with him.
Friday night we met up with some of his friends and checked out a few local bars. Saturday morning, we woke up and went to hike Angel Island, this incredible island that offers 360 degree views of SF, Alcatraz and Sausalito. The island was once used for immigration (similar to Ellis Island in NY) and processed 1 million Asian immigrants into the US. We spent the day hiking this beautiful island and catching up on each other’s lives. That evening, we felt we had earning a hearty meal and went to a Bier garden restaurant.
On Sunday, Edward planned an incredible day to Sonoma and Napa. I’ve never been and didn’t know what to expect. My brother rented a driver (the best driver ever) who planned out a wonderful day visiting multiple different wineries and kept us entertained along the way. We woke up the following morning with 14 bottles of wine and knew we had a good time 😉
I had an absolute blast exploring SF and Napa and it was so nice to have an opportunity for some sibling bonding time, which we don’t get enough of given the distance. If anyone finds themselves in San Francisco, I would highly recommend checking out Angel Island as well as making the trip out to the wine country.
