In May, we decided at the last minute to take a trip over to Amsterdam for the weekend. We figured it would be one of the last times that a lot of our good friends would still be living there so we wanted to go and see them in our favorite city one more time!
We landed Saturday morning and headed to our hotel to quickly freshen up. We then headed to meet up with everyone for our historical tram ride that the Antillas organized! After the tram ride, we hung out at one of the breweries for a few hours and then made another impromptu decision to rent a canal boat that evening. We picked up our favorite pizza and enjoyed the beautiful evening on the water.
The next morning, we woke up and found out our flight was delayed by 6 hours. We were a bit worried it wouldn’t actually fly out and looked at rebooking, but then decided to hope for the best. Fortunately, it worked out better than we could have imagined as it meant our 24 hours in Amsterdam turned into an extra day.
We started off by our friends throwing us a surprise baby shower at my favorite coffee place in our old neighborhood. We then spent the remainder of the day just enjoying the beautiful weather, walking the canal-lined streets, and spending time with our friends.
The city will forever have a special place in our hearts and it was wonderful having the weekend to enjoy the time with our good friends that we met while living there.
